  • I have completed a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor’s or higher degree in geology, plus 20 additional semester hours or the equivalent in any combination of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological science, structural, chemical, civil, mining or petroleum engineering, computer science, planetary geology, comparative planetology, geophysics, meteorology, hydrology, oceanography, physical geography, marine geology, and cartography.
  • I have a combination of education and experience - 24 semester hours or equivalent in geology plus 20 additional semester hours or equivalent in any combination of courses specified above, plus appropriate experience and/or additional education for a total of 4 years.
  • I am currently employed in this series in the Federal government.
  • I do not meet any of the requirements as described.
2 GS-12 RESEARCH ONLY: In addition to basic education requirements, you must meet one of the following in order to qualify for this position. Answer to this question is required
  • I possess at least 1-year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level as described in the “Qualifications and Evaluations” section of the vacancy announcement.
  • I possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a directly related field of study.
  • I possess a combination of successfully completed progressive graduate level education, as described above, that is beyond the second year of graduate study and professional experience, as described above.
