Duties

As the Senior Reactor Analyst (SRA) you will conduct reliability and risk evaluations of nuclear power plant issues, evaluate plant equipment availability data to determine the impact of plant operations on safety risk and provide technical leadership to develop or enhance probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) guidance which support the Reactor Oversight Processes (ROP). You will also use insights gained from the PRA analysis of operational events at reactors to develop recommendations to enhance effectiveness and efficiency in processes supporting the ROP, risk-Inform inspection procedures, and develop or enhance training for staff and management who supports implementation of the SDP.

Position requires completion of the SRA Qualification Program per IMC 1245 Appendix C9.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service 0801/1301 general engineering/scientist occupational series or equivalent in the occupational series listed above or related series performing like or similar duties. Candidates must possess a thorough knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices in a field of Engineering, as demonstrated by a Bachelor's degree in General Engineering/Scientist.

    Qualifications:

    In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.  

    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as experience that demonstrates a thorough knowledge of NRC programs with emphasis in one or more of the following areas: reactor or research and test reactor operations, engineering support, radiation protection, safeguards, fuel cycle technology, risk assessment, rulemaking, NRC inspection and oversight programs and license renewal and environmental reviews.
