Summary:

This position is in the Office of System Safety, Office of Safety Assurance & Risk Management. This position will serve as the Program Analyst for Safety Risk Management (SRM).


As a Program Analyst, you will provide analytical support to the new FTA safety risk management program, titled the Safety Assessment team/Executive Safety Review Board (SAT/ESRB).

Duties

As a Program Analyst (Safety Risk Mgmt), you will:



  • Participate on technical teams conducting data-driven transit safety hazard analyses and risk assessment, developing performance measures and applying safety assurance to assessment and oversight processes.

  • Participate on teams responsible for developing technical reports, information briefings and other forms of written communications.

  • Deliver presentations to management, executive leadership and external stakeholders.

  • Coordinate team-based inter-personal communications to assure effective program management results.


 


IDEAL CANDIDATE: This position is ideal for a mid-career professional who has extensive experience conducting transit safety hazard analyses and setting performance measures for transit safety and to report performance targets and progress towards meeting those targets.

    Qualifications:

    To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the specialized experience requirements.

    FOR THE GS-13
    , to qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equal or equivalent to the GS-12, it must include:



    • Experience in serving as a subject matter expert leading technical teams conducting transit safety hazard analyses, risk assessments and mitigation management plans.

    • Experience in analyzing transit safety quantitative and qualitative information to identify hazards, risks and defects and determine their severity and impact.


     


    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).  Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.  You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
