  • Merit Promotion - Only applicants with FEDERAL STATUS. This includes: current career or career-conditional employees, former Federal employees who achieved career status in the competitive service, or former Federal employees who served on a career-conditional appointment without achieving career status in the competitive service and were separated within the last three years. Required documentation: SF-50 and/or DD-214, if applicable.
  • VETERANS EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES ACT (VEOA) - Veterans with honorable discharge after serving three or more continuous years, or veteran’s preference eligibles. Veterans who were released shortly before completing a 3-year tour are considered to be eligible. This option does NOT apply if you already hold federal career status or are currently in a competitive service position. Required Documentation (as applicable): DD-214, SF-15, Letter from the VA.
  • 30% OR MORE DISABLED VETERANS - A non-competitive appointment ONLY for veterans who have retired from active military service with a disability rating of 30% or more or who have been rated by the VA since 1991 or later as having a compensable service-connected disability of 30% or more. If selected, you will be appointed to a time-limited assignment for 60 days, which may be converted to a permanent career-conditional position at any time. (Applicable for all grades) Required documentation (if applicable): DD-214, SF-15, Letter from the VA.
  • OTHER NON-COMPETITIVE SPECIAL APPOINTING AUTHORITY - Schedule A Authorities, Peace Corps, Postal Service, former Overseas Employees, etc. (Applicable for all grades) Required documentation (as applicable for the type of authority used): Documentation from a licensed medical professional, state or private vocational rehabilitation specialists, or any Government agency that issues or provides disability benefits; Proof of service with the Postal Service (PS Form 50), Peace Corps, Overseas Employment, etc.
  • VETERANS’ RECRUITMENT APPOINTMENT (VRA) - A non-competitive appointment for veterans who meet ANY of the following criteria: disabled veterans; veterans who served on active duty during a war declared by Congress, or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized; veterans who participated in a military operation for which an Armed Forces Service Medal was awarded; or veterans separated from active duty within the last 3 years. In addition to meeting the criteria above, eligible veterans must have been separated under honorable conditions (i.e., the individual must have received either an honorable or general discharge) (Applicable for grades 1 to 11 only) Required documentation (if applicable): DD-214, SF-15, Letter from the VA.
