Grade: 11

1 All applicants must meet one of the following. Select the appropriate answer to each of the following questions based on your current level of education and/or experience that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of an Integrated Ballistics Identification Systems (IBIS) Specialist at the GS-11 level. Answer to this question is required
  • I have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of an IBIS Specialist. Specialized experience includes: Ability and skills to use IBIS Systems, which incorporate the use of microscopy, measuring devices, photography, imaging techniques, firearms classification and other related firearms examinations to examine physical evidence associated with firearm related cases (e.g., firearms, bullets and cartridge cases).
  • I have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent graduate degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in physical and biological sciences, police science, criminology, or law or other course work in fields that clearly provide knowledge and skills necessary for successful job performance in the position to be filled, or an LL.M.
  • I have equivalent combination of successfully completed Ph.D. level and specialized experience to meet total experience requirements. Only education in excess of the first 90 semester hours or 135 quarter hours i.e., beyond the third year is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study/30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
  • I do not meet or exceed one full year of specialized experience as described in #1 or I do not meet the education and combination of experience and education as stated in #2 or #3.
